BEST KPOP OF 2016 [first quarter]

Is it just me or is 2016 going even faster than 2015? I literally feel like New Years Eve was like last week… Anyways, A LOT of great kpop songs has been release since the beginning of the year. So let’s count down the top 10 best kpop songs of the first quarter of 2016!

  1. Koh Nayoung || Whom?

    You probably haven’t heard of this song as Koh Nayoung is a very unknown singer. But I absolutely LOVE the song Whom! It has a old style Avril Lavigne vibe to it which I am weak for. I think this song deserved more love than it got and I suggest everyone should check it out
    Artist: Koh Nayoung
    Album: N/A
    Release Date: 01.02.2016
    Agency: N/A
  1. WINNER || Sentimental

    Sentimental was the first WINNER song I ever heard and I absolutely love it. The songs fits in with the YG vibe perfectly, but is still very original. The music video is original as well with the ceiling view camera work and the quirky dancing.
    Artist: WINNER
    Bias: Taehyun
    Album: EXIT: E
    Release Date: 31.01.2016
    Agency: YG Entertainment
  1. GOT7 || See The Light

    I (as a IGOT7) am not going to lie. The Flight Log Departure isn’t the best album GOT7 ever made. But it still has some gems on it. See The Light being my favorite. The song (written by Mark) is just amazing. It has a relaxing vibe and inspiring lyrics.
    Artist: GOT7
    Bias: Yugyeom
    Album: Flight Log Departure
    Release Date: 20.03.2016
    Agency: JYP Entertainment
  1. Taemin || Mystery Lover

    Every song on the Press It album is gold, but Mystery Lover is one of my favorites. It’s a very original and refreshing song. And just like the title, the song has a mysterious feeling to it which makes it very interesting to listen to.
    Artist: Taemin (SHINee)
    Album: Press It
    Release Date: 22.02.2016
    Agency: S.M. Entertainment
  1. DAY6 || Blood

    Blood is a fun and upbeat by my favorite rookie boy band: DAY6. The song puts a smile on my face with it’s strong retro vibe. It’s just a lot of fun to listen to!
    Artist: DAY6
    Bias: Young K
    Album: Daydream
    Release Date: 29.03.2016
    Agency: JYP Entertainment
  1. Wendy ft. Eric Nam || Spring Love

    I will always have a weak spot for songs with a acoustic guitar as I play it myself. So that element certainly helps me love this song. But even if that wasn’t the case, it would still be this high on the list. Spring Love is an adorable song which is perfect for the spring time AND it has two my favorite artists working together. This song is basically a triple win!
    Artist: Wendy (Red Velvet) & Eric Nam
    Bias: Both!
    Album: STATION Project
    Release Date: 03.03.2016
    Agency: S.M. Entertainment
  1. AOA CREAM || I’m jelly BABY
    aoacream
    The AOA sub-unit AOA CREAM made their debut with this amazing, catchy and addictive song. I’ve had I’m jelly BABY on repeat since it release and I am still not tired of it which proves this song is great. It just makes me happy!
    Artist: AOA CREAM
    Bias: Chanmi
    Album: I’m jelly BABY
    Release Date: 11.02.2016
    Agency: FNC Entertainment
  1. Dal*Shabet || Someone Like U

    Speaking of songs that make me happy, here is another one! Someone Like U was the song that made me stan the girl group Dal*Shabet. The song has a catchy retro vibe. It’s just fun and I can easily see myself listening to it for years!

    Bias: Woohee
    Album: Naturalness
    Release Date: 04.01.2016

  1. Amber || Borders

    Borders is a very beautiful and inspiring song by F(x)’s Amber. The message and lyrics are very strong. The song tells us to push through rough times because this is not the end. I love Amber for writing this masterpiece and I wish S.M. Entertainment would allow her to have creative freedom more often!

  1. Taemin || Soldier

    Soldier is my favorite song of the year so far. It is both beautiful and heartbreaking and it shows off Taemins impressive vocal skills. It messes with my heart every time I listen to it and I know I will never grow tired of this beautiful ballad!
    Artist: Taemin (SHINee)
    Album: Press It

BEST KPOP OF MARCH 2016

March was a great moth to be a kpopper. A lot of groups made comebacks and there were a lot of solo comebacks/debuts and so many artists worked together in duets! It was hard to chose a top 10, but here it is!

  1. Eric Nam || Interview

    Eric Nam finally made his comeback with the album “Interview”, the whole album is filled with heart warming jazzy songs. But none are as good as the title song Interview. It just warms my heart whenever I listen to it and I can’t handle the cuteness!
  1. N-SONIC || Excalibur

    I am so glad a online friend of mine told me to check out N-SONIC’s new song, Excalibur. I honestly love it. It has a dark vibe to it which isn’t found in spring kpop songs very often. The song is addicting to listen to and I highly recommend it!
  1. KNK || Knock

    KNK debuted this month with the song and single album Knock. The song doesn’t even feels like a debut song! It is really professional and it’s interesting to listen too. I honestly didn’t have time to fall in love with another kpop group, but somehow KNK made me fall in love with them!
  1. Lee Hi || Hold Your Hand

    Lee Hi finally made a comeback this month with the album Silhouette. She released two title songs; Breath (a ballad) and Hold Your Hand. Out of the two Hold Your Hand is my favorite. It is a cute and catchy song that makes me happy when I listen to it!
  1. GOT7 || Fly

    For those of you who don’t know; GOT7 is my ultimate bias group and I was super exited for their comeback. The Flight Log: Departure album is amazing, but Fly just didn’t really do it for me. The boys of GOT7 are all so talented, but the song Fly does nothing to show it! I still have hope for their song coming out next month tho!
  1. DAY6 || Letting Go

    DAY6 also made a comeback with the mini album Daydream and the title song Letting Go. Just like their debut, the song is a sad pop rock about break up. The song is honestly so beautiful that it gave me chills the first time I listened to it and I love every song on their new album. DAY6 proved that they can still rock with only five members!
  1. FIESTAR || Mirror

    Mirror is another sad and darker song. The song is amazing and shows of the girls talents so well. Also the music video is really visually pleasing and I love it for that. The song made it so high on my list, because lately I have fallen in love with this girl group and I must admit that this was a bit of a biased choice. However, the song does deserves it. It’s really good!
  1. Oh My Girl || Liar Liar

    The Oh My Girl comeback was super hyped up, but I didn’t expect much from it. Honestly the teasers didn’t sound good to me at all. However when Liar Liar dropped, I gave it a shot anyways. And I am so glad I did! I fell in love with the song from the first time I listened to it! It is really catchy and I can easily see myself listening it for years to come! The whole Pink Ocean album is just good like that to be honest!
  1. Wendy ft. Eric Nam || Spring Love

    Two of my favorite artists (Wendy from Red Velvet and Eric Nam) worked together to create this adorable country song that throws me back to the 2008 Taylor Swift vibe! Spring Love is a song that makes me super happy when I listen to it. It is really cute and listening to it just makes my heart melt. Songs like Spring Love is the reason why I love the S.M. STATION project!
  1. Amber || Borders

    Borders is a full English song by F(x)’s rapper Amber. The song is beautiful and inspiring with lyrics that gives me the chills. The song came with a note from Amber, telling her fans to keep fighting no matter how hard it is. I honestly can see this song becoming one of my all time favorite songs in general. It came to me on the right moment and I am forever thankful for Amber for writing this masterpiece!

My PRODUCE 101 top 11 [updated version]

With the PRODUCE 101 finally coming up and like 90% of my Original top 11 being eliminated… I thought it would be the perfect moment to show you what 11 girls I want in the PRODUCE 101 girl group in my top 11 girls from PRODUCE 101!

For those of you who don’t know what PRODUCE 101 is, let me give a quick description: PRODUCE 101 is a Korean survival show which started with 101 trainee girls from different companies. In the end there will be one girl group with 11 members who will be together for a year.

  1. Han Hyeri || Star Empire EntertainmentHan Hyeri is a contestant who didn’t grab my attention at all in the beginning (in my defense, there were literally 101 girls!), but suddenly I started to notice her in later episodes. Looking back at old performances, I think she would be a great addition to a girl group. She has that adorable vibe around her and her voice is adorable too. It is really different from most girls which makes her stand out from others.
  1. Jung Chae Yeon || MBK EntertainmentChaeyeon captured my attention with her performance of “into the new world”. She is a very talented girl who can transfer the emotions of a song very well (she is known for her facial expressions after all). She was always low key on my radar, but didn’t make my personal top 11 until now!
    Chaeyeon is already part of a girl group though, a rookie group named DIA.
  1. Kim Se Jeong || Jellyfish EntertainmentKim Sejeong is the publics favorite contestant and it’s almost 100% sure that she will be in the group. She has amazing vocals and a adorable personality. I am confident that she will debut soon!
  1. Lee Hae In || SS EntertainmentI think Lee Haein is the sexiest girl in PRODUCE 101 and she sure would get the group lots of male fans. But putting looks aside, she is amazing. She has an amazing stage presence and knows how to play a crowd. She is a great singer and dancer and just one of those all round talents!
  1. Zhou Jieqiong (Pinky) || Pledis EntertainmentPinky has captured me attention pretty early on. She slayed her center in episode 4 and she kept slaying since. She has that innocent vibe that most my favorite female idols have and I think she would fit right into a girl group. She also has a very sweet personality and I feel like she isn’t as greedy as most girls on the show.
  1. Ki Heui-Hyeon (Cathy) || MBK EntertainmentCathy has been in my top 11 from the start. Her skills are amazing and she is one of the best dancers on the show. Just like Chaeyeon she is already part of a girl group (DIA), but I still want them to win. There talent is just too big and they really deserve it. Also I hope this will get their group more publicity, because DIA is very underrated!
  1. Chungha || M&H EntertainmentFirstly I’d like to mention that Chungha is so drop dead gorgeous that I can’t even! But obviously this isn’t why I want her in the group.
    Chunga is a very underrated girl and I wish people would pay more attention to her. They would see she is amazing at dancing and great at singing!
  1. Yu Yeun Jung || STARSHIP EntertainmentSTARSHIP Entertainment is known for its talented vocalists and Yeunjung is no expection to this. She was in my top 11 before, but never this high. She moved up after she slayed her high notes in the song “In the same place”
  1. Kang Mina || Jellyfish EntertainmentThe Jellyfish girls are the most popular girls on the show. Kang Mina is my favorite from them. She is just really cute and she seems like a genuinely nice person. She has that girl next door vibe that I love and of course her talent is on point!
  1. Jeon So Mi (Somi) || JYP EntertainmentAt first I wasn’t sure if I wanted Somi in there for her agency or her talent. But now I know it’s for her talent. In the beginning she was a bit stiff on stage, but she has improved a lot! Now she has the best stage presence on the show, my eyes always get drawn to her. She also has a adorable, funny and awkward personality which makes me love her even more. It was a really close call between her and my number one…
  1. Jeon So Yeon || Cube EntertainmentSoyeon has been my favorite from the first episode and even though Somi got close, Soyeon is still my number one. She is the best rapper from the group and has a very unique voice which would help a girl group stand out against others. Plus she looks and is adorable!
    Her rank has been going down and it’s breaking my heart. Right now, it seems like she wont debut, but I really hope that changes!

Did you agree to my list? Who are your favorite girls from PRODUCE 101?

4MINUTE – ACT.7 album review

This is my first album review so bare with me if it’s not perfect!

For my first review I chose a 2016 album that I was super exited about, Act.7 by 4Minute. 4Minute is one of my favorite girl groups and I was exited to see them make their comeback after the mayor hit of Crazy last year.

The album consists out of four very western influenced songs. That are all very different, but still match together perfectly. It is an interesting album to listen to and would be great to introduce your non-kpop friends to!

Track one: HateThe album starts with Hate, the title song from the album. The song has gotten a lot of bad reviews, people claim it sounds like two songs at the same time. Personally I love this song. The verses have a dark vibe and focuses on the lyrics whilst the chorus focuses on the beat and feels a bit like “Crazy”. I think the twist in it makes it very interesting to listen to and makes it stand out against other kpop songs.

The music video can also be divided into two parts; the verses and the chorus. The chorus part is kind of basic and there is nothing really special to tell. But the verses are amazing. The music video shows some stunning visuals during the verses which all have a deep and well thought idea behind it.

Track two: No love

No love is the slower paste and more emotional song on the album. The song has a slow build up to a still calm chorus. The calm beat and relatively quiet background music makes the whole song just a really relaxing song to listen to. Their voices also sound very clean and harmonized in the song which adds to that vibe.

Track three: Blind
Blind is my least favorite song on the album. The melody in the intro doesn’t matches the beat of their voices at all and the high tone thing just makes me very nerves for some reason. However, I do love the rest of the song, it’s just the intro that puts me off. After the intro the song continues in a very western fashion with a chorus that shows of f the girls’ impressive vocal skills.

Track four: Canvas
Canvas uses a rhythm that gives the song a almost Arabic vibe which in enhanced during the chorus where the song is almost only instrumental with a strong Arabic vibe. Just like all the other songs on this album, the song has a clear build up to a strong and powerful chorus.

I like the overall album is a great example of the general 4minute concept. The songs on it just fit perfectly with their bad ass image. The music is a great mixture of pop and R&B with a strong western vibe that is found in both this album and their previous one. I personally love the direction 4minute is moving in and I can’t wait to see what their next comeback will be like!

My overall rating: 91%

Flightlog Departure theory

Note: What you are about to read is my THEORY based on the Flightlog Departure trailer, this is not cannon!

I have watched the Flightlog Departure trailer a couple of times now and I have formed a theory… and it’s not a happy one. Basically everyone dies..

The trailer starts with a cutesy scene with them all in a bus driving to some unknown destination. It is classic GOT7, just seven guys having childish fun and making iGOT7 hearts melt. But then Junior sort of fades out… I personally think this is because they get in a car accident.
Then we get a scene of Junior being on some kind of road before fading out again and re-entering in a room with the other members. I think this is a symbol for all of them being unconscious and Junior was the last to lose consciousness.
After that the members slowly start to fly one by one. I believe this is symbol for them actually dying. JB seems to be asleep for a little before he flies. So he might be in a coma first and then die anyways.
Only Junior is left… I think Junior is the only surviver of the accident, but the grief is killing him inside and so in the end… he jumps off a building…

If my theory is true, than all iGOT7’s are going to cry. I hope it isn’t, but it makes so much sense to me!

[TOP 10] Best kpop dances

Dancing a is a huge part of the kpop world. Every song has it own dance and fans love to learn them too! Dance practices often get a lot of views! So I am counting down my top 10 kpop choreographies.

  1. SHINee || Lucifer

    Lucifer is an amazing song and the choreography of the song is equally amazing. It is really tight and fast and just looks really cool. It got me under a spell (bad lyrics pun)..
  1. TWICE || Like ooh ahh

    TWICE is my favorite rookie group and the song like ooh ahh was their debut. The dance is really cute and has great visuals. I especially like Momo’s part in the break down.
  1. Girls’ Generation || Gee

    Gee is one of the most iconic kpop music videos and the dance is also very iconic. It is really cute with lot’s of aegyo. I just really like this girly girl dance!
  1. EXO || Overdose

    EXO is my favorite group when it comes to dancing. Overdose is actually a song by EXO-K, but they all dance together. I especially love the part when half the group is sitting down and the other half “controls” them.
  1. BTS || Dope

    Dope is my favorite BTS song and that is mostly because of the choreography. The dance is really fast and neat. I looks bad ass too be honest!
  1. EXO || Call me baby

    Call me baby was the first music video in which the dance stood out to me. Of course any dance looks better with 10 people dancing it, but the dance also looks great in covers. It is really fast, but really cool!
  1. EXID || Up & Down

    Up & Down is the only girl group choreography to make it into my top five. The dance is just a lot of fun to watch and I can’t wait to learn it! My favorite part is the second verse, it’s just a lot of fun!
  1. Taemin || Drip drop

    SHINee’s Taemin made his solo debut with the song Drip Drop. The music video is pure dance, but holy shit can he dance. It looks incredible and very difficult. Level impossible dancing there!
  1. GOT7 || If you do

    The if you do just looks awesome if I am honest, the footwork is amazing and I love the part where Jackson falls into the group and Yugyeom comes out!
  1. EXO || Growl

    Like I said before, EXO is my favorite group when it comes to dances. And Growl is my favorite dance. It looks really neat and powerful. I especially love the ground dancing part!
