My PRODUCE 101 top 11 [updated version]

With the PRODUCE 101 finally coming up and like 90% of my Original top 11 being eliminated… I thought it would be the perfect moment to show you what 11 girls I want in the PRODUCE 101 girl group in my top 11 girls from PRODUCE 101!

For those of you who don’t know what PRODUCE 101 is, let me give a quick description: PRODUCE 101 is a Korean survival show which started with 101 trainee girls from different companies. In the end there will be one girl group with 11 members who will be together for a year.

11. Han Hyeri || Star Empire EntertainmentHan Hyeri is a contestant who didn’t grab my attention at all in the beginning (in my defense, there were literally 101 girls!), but suddenly I started to notice her in later episodes. Looking back at old performances, I think she would be a great addition to a girl group. She has that adorable vibe around her and her voice is adorable too. It is really different from most girls which makes her stand out from others.

10. Jung Chae Yeon || MBK EntertainmentChaeyeon captured my attention with her performance of “into the new world”. She is a very talented girl who can transfer the emotions of a song very well (she is known for her facial expressions after all). She was always low key on my radar, but didn’t make my personal top 11 until now!
    Chaeyeon is already part of a girl group though, a rookie group named DIA.

9. Kim Se Jeong || Jellyfish EntertainmentKim Sejeong is the publics favorite contestant and it’s almost 100% sure that she will be in the group. She has amazing vocals and a adorable personality. I am confident that she will debut soon!

8. Lee Hae In || SS EntertainmentI think Lee Haein is the sexiest girl in PRODUCE 101 and she sure would get the group lots of male fans. But putting looks aside, she is amazing. She has an amazing stage presence and knows how to play a crowd. She is a great singer and dancer and just one of those all round talents!

7. Zhou Jieqiong (Pinky) || Pledis EntertainmentPinky has captured me attention pretty early on. She slayed her center in episode 4 and she kept slaying since. She has that innocent vibe that most my favorite female idols have and I think she would fit right into a girl group. She also has a very sweet personality and I feel like she isn’t as greedy as most girls on the show.

6. Ki Heui-Hyeon (Cathy) || MBK EntertainmentCathy has been in my top 11 from the start. Her skills are amazing and she is one of the best dancers on the show. Just like Chaeyeon she is already part of a girl group (DIA), but I still want them to win. There talent is just too big and they really deserve it. Also I hope this will get their group more publicity, because DIA is very underrated!

5. Chungha || M&H EntertainmentFirstly I’d like to mention that Chungha is so drop dead gorgeous that I can’t even! But obviously this isn’t why I want her in the group.
   Chunga is a very underrated girl and I wish people would pay more attention to her. They would see she is amazing at dancing and great at singing!

4. Yu Yeun Jung || STARSHIP EntertainmentSTARSHIP Entertainment is known for its talented vocalists and Yeunjung is no expection to this. She was in my top 11 before, but never this high. She moved up after she slayed her high notes in the song “In the same place”

3. Kang Mina || Jellyfish EntertainmentThe Jellyfish girls are the most popular girls on the show. Kang Mina is my favorite from them. She is just really cute and she seems like a genuinely nice person. She has that girl next door vibe that I love and of course her talent is on point!

2. Jeon So Mi (Somi) || JYP EntertainmentAt first I wasn’t sure if I wanted Somi in there for her agency or her talent. But now I know it’s for her talent. In the beginning she was a bit stiff on stage, but she has improved a lot! Now she has the best stage presence on the show, my eyes always get drawn to her. She also has a adorable, funny and awkward personality which makes me love her even more. It was a really close call between her and my number one…

1. Jeon So Yeon || Cube EntertainmentSoyeon has been my favorite from the first episode and even though Somi got close, Soyeon is still my number one. She is the best rapper from the group and has a very unique voice which would help a girl group stand out against others. Plus she looks and is adorable!
   Her rank has been going down and it’s breaking my heart. Right now, it seems like she wont debut, but I really hope that changes!

4MINUTE – ACT.7 album review

This is my first album review so bare with me if it’s not perfect!

For my first review I chose a 2016 album that I was super exited about, Act.7 by 4Minute. 4Minute is one of my favorite girl groups and I was exited to see them make their comeback after the mayor hit of Crazy last year.

The album consists out of four very western influenced songs. That are all very different, but still match together perfectly. It is an interesting album to listen to and would be great to introduce your non-kpop friends to!

Track one: HateThe album starts with Hate, the title song from the album. The song has gotten a lot of bad reviews, people claim it sounds like two songs at the same time. Personally I love this song. The verses have a dark vibe and focuses on the lyrics whilst the chorus focuses on the beat and feels a bit like “Crazy”. I think the twist in it makes it very interesting to listen to and makes it stand out against other kpop songs.

The music video can also be divided into two parts; the verses and the chorus. The chorus part is kind of basic and there is nothing really special to tell. But the verses are amazing. The music video shows some stunning visuals during the verses which all have a deep and well thought idea behind it.

Track two: No love

No love is the slower paste and more emotional song on the album. The song has a slow build up to a still calm chorus. The calm beat and relatively quiet background music makes the whole song just a really relaxing song to listen to. Their voices also sound very clean and harmonized in the song which adds to that vibe.

Track three: Blind
Blind is my least favorite song on the album. The melody in the intro doesn’t matches the beat of their voices at all and the high tone thing just makes me very nerves for some reason. However, I do love the rest of the song, it’s just the intro that puts me off. After the intro the song continues in a very western fashion with a chorus that shows of f the girls’ impressive vocal skills.

Track four: Canvas
Canvas uses a rhythm that gives the song a almost Arabic vibe which in enhanced during the chorus where the song is almost only instrumental with a strong Arabic vibe. Just like all the other songs on this album, the song has a clear build up to a strong and powerful chorus.

I like the overall album is a great example of the general 4minute concept. The songs on it just fit perfectly with their bad ass image. The music is a great mixture of pop and R&B with a strong western vibe that is found in both this album and their previous one. I personally love the direction 4minute is moving in and I can’t wait to see what their next comeback will be like!

My Produce 101 top 11

Produce 101 is a survival show which started with 101 trainees from 46 different agencies. 11 girls will be chosen in the end to form a girl group and for the first time the chosing is done by viewers votes and not a CEO. And now (5 episodes later) there are 61 girls left… And I think it’s about time I tell you the 11 girls I think should be in the girl group!
(If I didn’t tell which position I want them, it’s just vocals/vocalist. Because they will all be vocalists)

• Kim Ju-na (Music K Entertainment) –Lead Vocalist There is simply no way around this girls voice. She might not be the a great dancer, but she has a vocal range that (in my opinion) is one of the best on the show. Really her first performance left a huge impression on me!
• Ng Sze Kai (Chorokbeam Juna) – Rapper
  Ng Sze Kai is really a allround talent and would be a great in any girl group to be honest!
• Dani (MBK Entertainment) – Visual
  Dani was in a girl group before this, so she has experiance which is great. She also looks a bit like Bae Suzy in my opinion, so that’s also a plus as Suzy is considered one of the prettiest artists out there.
• Cathy (MBK Entertainment) – Lead Dancer
  Just like Dani, Cathy was in a girl group before (infact they were in the same group called DIA) and therefor has experiance. But also, Cathy is a really good dancer so I think she would make a great lead dancer.
• Kim Se-Jeong (Jellyfish Entertainment) – Main Vocalist
   Public favorite Kim Se-Jeong is the publics favorite for a reason, really she has amazing vocals and on point dance skills. I would really like to see her at the center spot for a long long time.
• Park S0-yeon (Cube Entertainment) – Lead rapper
  Park So-yeon is my favorite of the show so far. She is a amazing rapper and a great singer. She has a really unique voice that would help the group stand out against other girl groups. Plus she is adorable and has a great personality, she would definitly be my bias!
• Kang Si-won (Individual trainee) – Leader
  Kan Si-won started in the F group and quickly became their leader. Later on she moved up in rank due to her talent. But that’s not why she stood out to me, it was because of her leadership over group F. She is a amazing natural leader, almost like she was litrally born for this position.
• Yu Yeun-Jong (Starship Entertainment)
  Starship Entertainment is one of my favorite companies, because they really care about the amount of talent the trainees have. So it’s only natural that the Starship girls in Produce 101 are among my favorites.
• Lee Hae-In (SS Entertainment)
  Lee Hae-In made a great impression with me during her performance of Irony by Wonder Girls. She is cute, yet sexy and has a great voice. She wouldmake a good female idol!
• Somi (JYP Entertainment) – Second Visual
  I’m not gonna lie, a big reason why I want Somi in this group is because she is from JYP. JYP is one of the big three and having her in the group would really boost their popularity…
• Pinky (Pledis Entertainment)
  Pinky is so adorable! I really like the vibe she gives and she has a amazing talent. She would just fit a cutesy girl group perfectly!

THE EUBIN SITUATION and how it effects CLC

CLC is back with two new members, this would have been great if not for the fact that one of those new members is actually holding the girls down…

Okay quick backstory: CLC debuted in March 2015 with five members. The girls got some attention from kpop fans, but not enough to really become famous. The group is almost semi-popular at best. So Cube Entertainment added two more members to this group in the hope it will get them some more attention.
The new members are Elkie and Eubin, only Eubin is not allowed to be in a kpop group yet…

Eubin isn’t allowed to promote for CLC, because she is in a variety show called “Produce 101” by Mnet. This show follows 101 trainees from different companies to create one girl group named Produce 101. Eubin is in this show and so she can’t do anything else in the kpop industry unless she is voted out (and if she wins she needs to promote with the Produce 101 before she is allowed to promote with CLC). This is due to a contract she signed with Mnet.

The reason that this is a problem for the other girls, is that Eubin isn’t allowed to be shown in Mvs and her voice isn’t allowed on the radio with CLC. Therefor they had to release a short version of their new song “High Heels” (without Eubin) and will probably do little to no promoting. This is a shame as CLC is a talented girl group who could become big if only Cube Entertainment would wait to put in Eubin for another year…
